South Beaver was established on March 12, 1800. In 1816 it was divided into four townships: Adams
Township, Brighton Township, South Beaver Township and Big Beaver Township. South Beaver is classified as a Second Class Township
and is governed by three elected Supervisors to six year terms each.
The supervisors meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in theTownship building located
at 773 St. Rt. 168. All meetings are open to the public with an opportunity for public comment.
South Beaver is located in western Pennsylvania on the Pennsylvania, Ohio boarder in Beaver County.
Mostly rural residential with a population of 2,974. South Beaver Township Students attend the
Blackhawk School district.
Part of Beaver County Airport is located in South Beaver Township with easy access in Chippewa Township.
Access to State Route 60 is less than 10 minutes. Using Rt. 60 the Pennsylvania Turnpike is 5 Minutes away, Pittsburgh International
Airport only 25 minutes and the City Of Pittsburgh about 1 Hour.
